Qualification:

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) promotes technological change and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region through higher education, research and outreach.  Established in 1959, AIT is an autonomous, international postgraduate institution situated 42 km north of Bangkok.  Faculty, researchers, staff and students come from around 45 countries and form a unique international community.  Students are admitted to its three schools – Engineering and Technology; Environment, Resources and Development; and Management.  AIT has graduated more than 20,000 alumni now taking up leadership positions in government, academia, businesses, and regional and international organizations/institutions in more than 100 countries around the world.

AIT seeks qualified professionals and outstanding individuals who will provide the leadership required for the positions of Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Vice President for Administration (VPA), and who are motivated to join a graduate education institution about to embark on a re-positioning of introducing innovation in education across the board.  Both Vice Presidents will be on the senior leadership team of the Institute and shall report directly to the President.

The successful VP-Academic Affairs candidate will be committed to a philosophy emphasizing the educational and academic and research operations of the institute.

Responsible for overseeing the three Graduate Schools at AIT:  School of Engineering and Technology, School of Environment Resource Development, and School of Management.  In this position, the VPAA will work with the three Deans and the faculty members and the President to chart the direction of academic and degree programs at AIT, paying attention both to the existing programs and research strengths of AIT as well as new innovative programs to enhance AIT positioning.

The VPAA candidate must be academically well-qualified, holding a Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in a teaching discipline, higher education administration or closely related field.  Has been at least a Dean at a reputable institution of higher learning and interested in education and research and management.  A strong communication and interpersonal capabilities to enable collaboration across the AIT campus, with our alumni, and with international networks.

The VP-Administration position envisages strong leadership qualities, responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans at all levels of the administrative operations of the institute.

The VPA will be responsible for overseeing a number of internal functions which serve the Institute.  These internal functions include finance, HR, IT, facilities, and procurement, among others.  The VPA will work with the President on streamlining non-academic services on campus. 

The VPA candidate must be well-qualified in terms of education and related experience.  Holding an advanced degree from an accredited institution in management, business administration, or closely related field.  The candidate should have significant administrative and financial experience at either an institution of higher learning or a major corporation.  If from the latter organization, then he/she must be well-familiar with operations in an academic institution.
